Sarah Dominique Orlandi lectured at the advanced training course Digital Think-in Lab 2018 | at the MAXXI Museum in Rome.
The lecture focuses on the web and the change that is taking place in the communication and enhancement of cultural heritage thanks to the following drivers: globality, multidisciplinary, multi-target and multilingual.
The relationship with the public has become crucial and people’s opinions sometimes outweigh famous texts. What has caused the reversal of the hierarchy?
The Web is a design field with special rules and procedures that subvert classical notions. It offers enormous potential for new cultural narratives and engaging procedures. The Web is also a place of engagement and creation with tools that allow users to create and share content. This is the future: not only the museum that publishes content, but also the public that reprocesses and shares it. To address and strengthen their digital identity, Museums must have a Web Strategy: a comprehensive and coordinated vision and consistent with the Museum’s mission.
